Use your social security #, driver’s license # or hunting or trapping certification # to log in.

- Do I need a printer to purchase a license or permits online?

Yes. The license you print at your printer is a valid, official license that will list all your privileges and no other license will be required. You may also want to print out the transaction receipt for your records.

- Will my license print on waterproof/tear resistant paper?

No. Your license will print on the paper that is loaded into your home printer. However, you will be able to
print a new license if you lose it or it gets destroyed.

- I'm a NON-HUNTER, how do I obtain a CT Migratory Bird Conservation Stamp?

You log into the system using your Conservation ID Number, go to the "Product Select" page, go to the "Other Tab" and select the CT Mig. Bird Conservation Stamp (NON-HUNTER) and check out. If you are a new customer, you will have to add yourself as a new customer, then go to the "Product Select" page, go to the "Other Tab" and select the CT Mig. Bird Conservation Stamp (NON-HUNTER) and check out.

- What do I do if I lose my license or it gets wet and I need to print another one?

You can reprint your license at any time by logging on with your Conservation ID, last name and date of birth. On the page that has your name and address information you will see the link to your license history in the top right hand corner. Once you are in your license history, you can reprint your license.

- Is the online licensing website secure for credit card transactions?

Yes,
when a user begins to purchase a license in our licensing module, the browser and our
server enter a secure connection through SSL (Secure Socket Layer). Throughout the entire
process, all entered data (not only the credit card information, but all the personal
information, as well as items selected for purchasing (licenses, permits, stamps,
etc.)) will be encrypted. In the browser's Location/Address bar, the user should
see "https" instead of "http". A lock
will be shown in the Status
bar at the bottom of the browser. Our online licensing web site is certified by Digicert.

- Is there a transaction fee involved for purchasing licenses online?

- Are licenses for blind, intellectual disability and certain handicapped persons available through the online system?
- Persons qualifying for one of above types of licenses are required to verify
their qualification and initially obtain such license through the automated system at a
participating town clerk's office,
or at DEEP offices.
Subsequent license may be obtained through the online system as well

- If I own land in Connecticut but live in another state, do I purchase a non-resident license?

Yes, you must be able to prove residency in order to purchase a resident license. To do so, you must produce a valid Connecticut Drivers License or State Issued Non-Driver Photo ID. Merely owning land in this state doesn’t exempt you from purchasing a non-resident license.

- I’m a Non-Resident, how do I obtain my Fishing, Firearm’s Hunting or Archery Permit in the State of Connecticut?

For an Inland, Marine or Combination fishing license you can register for a Conservation ID# and purchase your license. If you have purchased a license in the past few years, please use your existing Conservation ID# to access your account.

To purchase a Non- Resident Firearms Hunting License for the first time in CT, you will have to show proof of a Hunter Education Certificate or a copy of a RESIDENT hunting license valid within the last 5 years. Hunter Education coursework may have been completed online but MUST have been accompanied by a field day. You must contact the Licensing office at 860-424-3105 for assistance.

To purchase a Non-Resident Archery Permit for the first time in CT, you will have to show proof of a Bow Hunter Education Certificate, which consists of classroom study and a field day. Please note that combination Firearms and Bow Hunter courses are not accepted for Bow Hunter certification in CT. You must contact the Licensing office at 860-424-3105 for assistance.

After you have been certified for CT, if you have any problems purchasing the Non-Resident Firearms License or Archery Permit online, please call our office at 860-424-3105.
